Design Milk
Posted by Eric Bandholz in Ramblings on June 29, 2009
Check out this really cool blog with a focus on modern design. They’ve got a lot of very hip products and design focused articles. You’ll have to check it out on your own for the love but they also have a twitter account. I really dig their simplistic black and white logo with the milk carton. Anyways, less rambling and more linking – have fun!
Project Art
Posted by Eric Bandholz in Portfolio on June 26, 2009

Here are some some random artwork pieces I have done for my enjoyment. My main canvas is Illustrator but have ventured into paints very very slightly. My hand eye coordination seems to leave me when I get away from a computer unfortunately. You can see a continuation into my design style where less is more. I do prefer clean simple designs and I feel it carries over into my artwork as well. If you would like to commission any custom artwork let me know. Read the rest of this entry »
Got a Palm Pre
Posted by Eric Bandholz in Ramblings on June 26, 2009

Well, I’m giddy like a school girl. Yesterday my wife and I both got a new Palm Pre. This phone is slick and for those who don’t know is an iphone competitor. The biggest draw for me was that you can run multiple applications at once. Which means I can listen to Pandora radio and browse the internet or check e-mail at the same time. I also have a PSP and it frustrated me to no end that it couldn’t do that.
The GUI and touchscreen controls are seamless and even though the keyboard is small, I much prefer it to a touchscreen keyboard. I haven’t been able to keep my hands off it and would recommend it. It also helps that the Sprint everything plan kicks butt in terms of price. Since I got a new gift, I would like to offer other Pre owners a gift with this photo I took in Tokyo. Feel free to use it as a Palm Pre Wallpaper.
To install download file to your desktop then e-mail it as an attachment to your Palm Pre e-mail address. I will have an automated e-mailer later.
Project Identity
Posted by Eric Bandholz in Portfolio on June 25, 2009

Here are just some random designs I’ve done throughout the years. Most are for business ventures that I had planned but never developed. I like design so typically the first thing I do is come up with a corporate image. A lot of these are works in progress but you can get a feel for where the design elements are going. Enjoy! Project Stellar Group
Posted by Eric Bandholz in Portfolio on June 23, 2009

Stellar Group Recruiting is a small beautique recruiting firm in Greenville, SC. They came to me wanting to update their aging website into something that could give them a little more control as well as improve the search engine results. I had produced their identity package for them in the past and would integrate it into a WordPress blog site. WordPress was really the optimal choice as Stellar Group was working on a very tight marketing budget. I made minor modifications to an open source theme and integrated some simple but effective plugins to help capture leads and prospects. Read the rest of this entry »
A self portrait
Posted by Eric Bandholz in Ramblings on June 23, 2009

Well, I am trying to better my illustration skills in Illustrator. What better way to do that than to do a self portrait. There are some very incredibly talented illustrators out there and you can see some examples HERE, HERE, and HERE. I can only hope to develop skills like them and try to integrate my own sense of style in those drawings. It’s a slow process since I’ve never been formally trained in art or Illustrator but there is a wealth of information out there. I’ve got some other similar drawings that I might post up down the road.
The beard is to stay for a while as I am going on a Northwestern kick to try to blend in with other Spokanites. The illustration is a work in progress and I’m not entirely in love with it to finish it off – other pressing issues but figured someone out there might enjoy looking at it.
Project Wakomo
Posted by Eric Bandholz in Portfolio on June 17, 2009

This was a very design intensive turnkey project. This project was more than a design project but a business project. Starting from scratch I developed the logo and identity package. I researched ecommerce solutions and tailored it to fit the needs of Wakomo. The ecommerce store is built on Magento Commerce and the blog is built on WordPress and I skinned them to look indistinguishable for customers. I also design printed instruction pieces and the e-mail newsletter. Read the rest of this entry »
