The United States of America have gone power crazy and are pushing its laws on foreign nations. In this Bloomberg article talks about because of the pressure from USA, Swiss banks are going to release confidential information to the Department of Justice.

Loose fiscal responsibility by congress has caused the department of revenue to increase pressure to bring in assets any way possible. The sad part of this situation is they will not be able to improve the federal deficit. Ultimately, America has a spending problem – not a tax collection problem.

Instead of fixing their spending their problem they threaten individuals with loss of liberty and property to continue financing their reckless spending. Ultimately, if the more individuals government steals from, the more they lock up, and the more they discourage wealth production, the less money they will receive.

These activities the government is perusing are encouraging class warfare and they pushing citizens to fight against and report each other rather than improve their overall freedom. The simple fact is that everyone evades taxes. If you have ever purchased something online, at a yard sale, or written off a donation you have used a loophole to limit your tax payments. This is why Switzerland considers tax evasion legal, whereas tax fraud (lying about what you did) illegal.

Individuals are entitled to the wealth they create and governments can only use force to take that wealth from you. If you disagree with how the government spends your money and do not pay taxes then you lose your freedom. Because the government provides services you use (ie roads) does not mean you have an obligation to that, because you never agreed to theft of your property.

Sadly, most Americans, myself included, follow the laws because we value our freedom too much. Those that have the power to keep their wealth from the government should be rewarded, congratulated, and emulated.
